Widget Post Production was founded in 2001 by husband and wife team Brian and Anne Slack. The company started with a single client, working on DVD mixes for MGM from a small studio in Santa Monica. The duo was determined to grow their business, adding the hit Disney television show “Even Stevens” to the roster and restoring classic film titles for Sony Pictures Entertainment. Quickly outgrowing the space, in 2002 the company acquired a studio in Culver City expanding the restoration and television operations and providing sound packages for feature film.
In 2004, Widget Post Production acquired our 10,000 square foot La Cienega facility. The former home of Digital Sound & Picture, the recently refurbished studio houses the Sound Editorial and Restoration divisions, two dubbing stages, ADR and Foley stages. The La Cienega facility has been the site of sound mixes for feature films from Disney, Focus Features, New Line Cinema, Sony Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox as well as numerous independent films.
In January 2006, Widget Post Production acquired the historic Samuel Goldwyn Sound Studios at “The Lot”. Located in the heart of the Hollywood production corridor, the 37,000 square foot audio post-production facility has housed mixes for over 50 Academy Award nominated and winning films, including The Godfather, Raging Bull, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars and West Side Story. During its illustrious history, The Lot has been home to United Artists Studios, Samuel Goldwyn Studios, and Warner Hollywood Studios. The property was first established in 1919 as the Pickford-Fairbanks Studios, home of Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. In 1922, D.W. Griffith and Charlie Chaplin joined the team and in 1928 it was renamed United Artists Studios; producing such classic films as Robin Hood, The Thief of Baghdad and Taming of the Shrew. In 1950, Samuel Goldwyn acquired the studio and produced many classic films; among them Guys and Dolls, Some Like it Hot, The Apartment and Wuthering Heights. Warner Bros. purchased the property in 1980, renaming it Warner Hollywood Studios. Widget Post Production’s facilities at The Lot include four large dubbing stages, an ADR stage, a Foley stage, a sound transfer department and a 130-seat screening room. Fully equipped offices are also available to rent by production companies working with Widget Post.
